To get a better understanding of how employees feel about engagement in their workplace, we surveyed 192 respondents in September 2022. If you use the statistics we require a link to Project.co<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>15% of people <\/strong><strong>do no<\/strong><strong>t feel engaged at work <\/strong>\ud83d\ude14<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of those disengaged people\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\udd11 Almost 70% are unhappy with their pay&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcc8 60% are unhappy with their progression prospects<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2696\ufe0f And 46% said they don\u2019t have a good work-life balance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Coincidentally, 46% also said they are actively seeking new employment \ud83d\udd0e)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When it comes to people who <\/strong><strong><em>are<\/em><\/strong><strong> engaged at work&#8230; \ud83d\ude03<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\uddf0 85% said they have the tools they need to do their job<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83e\udd11 Almost 60% said they are happy with their pay<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcc8 Over 70% said they\u2019re happy with their progression prospects<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2696\ufe0f And almost 80% said they have a good work-life balance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How engagement impacts the workplace&#8230;\ud83d\udcaa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcc8 Almost <strong>90%<\/strong> of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>increases productivity&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\ude03 Over <strong>90%<\/strong> of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>increases customer satisfaction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udcb8<\/strong>&nbsp; Over <strong>85%<\/strong> of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>increases profitability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u26d1 Over<strong> 85%<\/strong> of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>increases workplace safety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83e\udd12 82% <\/strong>of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>decreases absenteeism<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udd01 85% <\/strong>of people feel that being more engaged at work <strong>reduces employee turnover&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recognition in the workplace&#8230; \ud83c\udfc6\ud83d\udc4f \ud83d\udcac<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Only <strong>30%<\/strong> of people say they <strong>frequently receive recognition<\/strong> at work. Almost <strong>20%<\/strong> of people said they <strong>never, or almost never, receive any recognition<\/strong>. \ud83d\udc4e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked \u201cHow do you currently receive recognition at work?\u201d mixed answers were given, with the majority of people selecting \u201cverbal praise\u201d:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/project.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/3ubGzBmWHpUTLiE4AV-5emOEMDbo5nSwY7951m0YRTOHXZHuYwNo_5nlG-w72hTYm1v-1aCq5Dr0t1tBEoi7MmhfuGXFnIKTYVBtVjuUlu6UU2GtVj2xZNxL8xs4N3zCCp041hLoF8U9fhZmqeK-etjoKUN5595SYOaIsgUTRnOnSaOBJH6rTpUjmg.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked \u201cHow would you <strong><em>prefer<\/em><\/strong> to receive recognition at work?\u201d the answers changed, with almost 80% of people selecting \u201cmonetary rewards\u201d:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/project.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ZB0_X42z5T5wNM7InWMzdSEGvLNwfPCaNJNaP6TL5BFYx8ZqTaOS7haEG8ZpJ8f5DJjuXdk3NTZz6siDdU7XxSVSB1z1zsk9FoiOJoMtNLuulej6uPKQsm8MVrON9nAYzr6ZBnthe6aBQx8Qo7ZWM76dUke_zhOHT5QCJypJh9jDkBiu-ptrUagOg.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is important to employees? \ud83e\udd14<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked what is most important to them at work\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>over <strong>65% of people said salary &amp; benefits are most important<\/strong>. \ud83d\udcb5<\/li><li>Almost <strong>20% said learning &amp; development is most important<\/strong>. \ud83c\udf93<\/li><li>And the remaining <strong>15% said the most important thing was that the company culture aligned with their own values<\/strong>. \ud83c\udf0e<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Relationships with colleagues are important for engagement too. <strong>When asked how they would like to improve relationships with co-workers, most people (60%) selected team lunches<\/strong>. \ud83c\udf55 Other responses were:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Team building activities (40%) \ud83c\udfb3<\/li><li>After-work drinks (38%) \ud83c\udf7b<\/li><li>A retreat (29%) \ud83c\udfdd<\/li><li>Virtual gatherings (16%) \ud83d\udda5<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: respondents were able to select more than one option.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Work-life balance \ud83e\udd2f<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An incredible <strong>96% of respondents said that work-life balance is important to them<\/strong>. And yet, <strong>84% of people said they have experienced burnout in the workplace<\/strong>. \ud83e\udd75<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several different barriers to work-life balance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Almost <strong>60% of people said their excessive workload is their biggest barrier to work-life balance<\/strong>. \ud83d\udcda<\/li><li><strong>46% of people said that their own perfectionism was preventing them from achieving a better work-life balance \ud83e\udd13<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>35% blamed their company culture<\/strong>. \ud83d\ude45\u200d\u2642\ufe0f<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked how work-life balance could be improved, most people (51%) selected flexible working hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/project.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7E5-ghllN0xxk6tqJZBO5_9FrtmG3tbbHDTmeOGJcBRrhH3aqzD98QhNqJkKyXA6mZlvQtXTvu8CRCogdpldONOuwvqoB0H6vb-tK8GGEKoDbR9LFkXz1N7z9BoV6OeDd3SAywBps1oN9843ZxR3M0YD9oSX8eKtxjVzKXq9nedSQW7X00IHiSDa.png\" width=\"602\" height=\"347\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this digital-first, hybrid era of working, with teams more dispersed than ever before, employee engagement has never been more important.
